Oregon woman publishes her book “The Eve Chronicles” a journey into the world of counterculture

Three books make “The Eve Chronicles” by Diane DeVillers.

My paperback book “The Eve Chronicles” included three books, “From the Waters of Coyote Springs” “Felix and Eve” and “The Arrangement” all three also available seperately as e books. After 35 years in service to people with disabilities I am now disabled myself with Multiple Sclerosis, but it’s a good story, one day while I was cleaning out my closet I ran across my journals from when I first moved to Oregon and worked as a timber cruiser in eastern Oregon doing timber surveys, living in my tent in a camp with other foresters. As I read the journal i thought” Wow this could be made into a book, and that’s when I started writing., “From the waters of Coyote Springs.
“Felix and Eve” is when Eve moved to the Oregon coast to spend the summer with an elderly man who just had heart bypass surgery and needed a live in caregiver. At first he was rather cranky but before long them started a relationship that some would say was unique. At night while they played cards Felix started to tell her about his younger days when he worked for the notorious Al Capone. A heart warming yet funny story.
The last book “The Arrangement” is about the now retired, baby boomer Eve who now owns property on Moon Mountain in Eugene, Oregon. Vinnie her old friend lives in a yurt in her back yard. Every year she gets a letter with a skeleton key in it and heads down to Catalina Island to take care of an old friend and lover who has MS.

gun violence

Oregon could lead the way in being first state to limit people involved in domestic violence from owning guns

It’s about time. Oregon is trying to pass a bill that prevents someone involved in domestic violence from owning a gun. What a great idea. Since the largest group that kill their spouces are men who are usually behind killing their wives.
SB 525 – Preventing Gun Violence in Domestic Violence Situations: This bill will protect families by bringing Oregon laws into alignment with federal laws prohibiting gun possession for perpetrators of domestic violence. SB 525 prohibits the possession of a firearm or ammunition by most people who are subject to a restraining order or who have been convicted of certain misdemeanor crimes involving domestic violence.

Since October is “Domestic Violence Awareness Month” this bill would prevent many deaths.

Misdiagnosis is common with Multiple Sclerosis. Keep telling your doctor about your symptoms

http://www.everydayhealth.com/solutions/stories/multiple-sclerosis-video-channel/?xid=nl_everydayhealthlivingwithmultiplesclerosis_20151010#/about-ms/misdiagnosis

I knew this to be true, i started tripping a lot and was told i had sympathetic nerve distrophy in my foot, going years to Physical Therapy, spending all kinds of money, until one day my PT gal said, has anyone given you an MRI? I think you could have MS. What a relief when they sent me to a neurologist and he told me I had Multiple Sclerosis. For four years i knew something was wrong. The weak right leg, the feeling vibrations in the feet and around my middle. And the fatigue and heat intolerance.

I was so happy to finally find out what was wrong with me.  Then comes the fear. Then came the time for me to go online and discover just what MS was. I had, have the Progressive kind of MS, where disability continues, with no relapse, no getting back what i lost. I have two muscles that are paralyzed in my right leg, which explained the drop foot and falling all the time. They made me a foot brace that helps me walk without tripping.

I have to avoid the heat, I have to slow down and take naps to “Refill the Cup”. Stress is like a packman in my brain, eating away at my nerves, the nerves that control my leg.

But i was able to retire at 53, and one day when i was cleaning out my closet, i found my journals from the early eighties when I first moved out to Oregon. I lived like a nomad, in the Wallowa Mountains of Eastern Oregon with a group of foresters who did timber inventory for the forest service. I started reading the journals and started to chuckle and decided that I would write a book, which I did. Actually three books, “From the Waters of Coyote Spring”, “Felix and Eve” and “The Arrangement” which are all in one paperback book called “The Eve Chronicles” by Diane DeVillers aka (SmartyPants).
